This post is 3 years old but people are still using the recipes with IFTTT very effectively so I would suggested that you contact their support and ask them as they would be able to help you. It finds followers for you instead of you.

It is also on your will to select what to share on Twitter and what not. I then shared the picture with Twitter via Instagram and it put a post on my Twitter but only with a link and no image.
